About Me

Hi, I’m Evelyn Li. My journey into UX design began during a sophomore-year internship, where I realized I could merge my technical background with my interest in human behavior to create more accessible and thoughtful digital experiences.

As I continued building projects, I found myself less focused on the final interface and more drawn to the decisions that shaped it - why a design changed, what problem it solved, and how those changes affected users. I became increasingly interested in the process behind design: understanding user needs, exploring alternatives, and balancing usability, feasibility, and impact.

Looking back, UX design felt like a natural progression of how I had been thinking since I first started coding, constantly asking how a product could work better while remaining intuitive and inclusive for a wide range of users.

Design Philosophy

Empathy guides how I approach design. Growing up as the only English speaker in my family, I often navigated digital systems on behalf of others, which gave me early exposure to accessibility and usability challenges. Those experiences shape how I design today, prioritizing clarity, inclusive interactions, and experiences that work for users with different needs, abilities, and levels of familiarity with technology.

Hobbie and Interests

🐾 Spending Time with My Dogs & Family

Spending time with my dogs and family keeps me grounded and patient, reinforcing the importance of empathy and clear communication. Being the person others rely on to navigate everyday systems has shaped how I think about accessibility, inclusivity, and designing with care for users at different levels of comfort and ability.

✈️ Travel & Cultural Exploration

Exploring new places and cultures helps with my curiosity and broadens my perspective, helping me recognize that users approach products with different expectations, mental models, and constraints. This mindset encourages me to question assumptions and design experiences that feel intuitive across diverse user contexts.

🎨 Arts & Crafts

Hands on creative work like tufting, journaling, and knitting helps me stay detail oriented and comfortable with iteration. These practices remind me that good design often emerges through experimentation, refinement, and patience, skills I carry into my digital design process.
